I have a hollow clunking noise in the front area of my 1998 V-90 when going over bumps or broken pavement/potholes, where the suspension . It has been there for 2 years and steadily getting worse. Sometimes it seems like the strut, and other times it seems like the steering rack. The dealer has not been able to find it, inspite of many attempts.
They had replaced the left front strut (just one strut, instead of the set, as one would expect from other auto companies) under warranty when the problem first appeared. I could have sworn the initial noise was from the right side, but the dealer said it was from the left. The noise did not go away.
The dealer says many 960/965 have this front end noise problem and that he could replace the entire front end components and the noise may still be there. They are going to try again.
Also have a bushing noise coming from the transmission area going over bumps.
IS THE FIRST NOISE DESCRIBED ABOVE SIMILAR TO WHAT YOU EXPERIENCED?
