Overdrive issues: Update

Thanks again Duane!

"Where did you get the tool for the solenoid? "

iPd, the set of OD tools used for solenoid removal and piston removal.

"Best tool I've used is a modified 1" crows foot from Sears. It needs to be ground on the sides to just under 1/4 inch in thickness. $7.00 and about 15 minutes on a grinder. "

Cool, thanks.

AS you grind, keep it cool with frequent dips in water. If you see blue metal, you are not dipping enough.

"Why get another at the junk yard? Once you have yours off, if it has a circlip in the end (see pick if I got it right)it is cleanable and since you hear it, the coil is still good. You just have fluid inside that needs to be let out. "

The click is very quiet, that just means it has fluid where it isnt supposed to be? Kinda see the circlip. I was going to get one from a junkyard since I need to have this thing driveable again by monday for school, and I dont have access to the o-ring.

"The O-rings that keep the fluid where it should be should be replaced when you have it open. "

ok. Is that generally how these fail and can be refurbished just like that?

Thanks again
take care

Luke
