Flexplate 'ring gear' noise

Those flexplates do break. I had one on a 90 740T that cracked all around the crank and gave a whole host of strange things. The plate itself was moving around the cracked area. You may be experiencing the same problem. My machine shop friend says this isn't unusual, but folks on the BB had not seen it.

Good luck and let us know your outcome. I still have my old plate as a collector item.
