The early code protected radios required 24 hours to reset, but the memory power must be conected. It is possible that the memory circuit is not conected or the fuse is blown. As I recall, there are either 1 or 2 inline fuses in the harness or low amp blade type fuses on the back of the radio, depending on model and year, that protect the memory circuit.
