At 217k it really doesnt owe you anything, but if you have priced out a new ride of similar quality, the 1500 for the motor doesnt sound bad at all. You know best what it has been like to own for the past 10 years and if you think with a new motor in it you will get some good miles out of it then it is a no braner. I am still amazed that my wifes (now my) s90 has a motor that is so smooth it puts new cars to shame. And it has 145K on it without any major maintenance. Your call, but if she has been a good car and you trust the work you mechanic does for you then go for it.
