Pops out of reverse 1800 1973

Hi,

I have a '73 P1800ES with M410 transmission. It pops out of reverse on a regular basis. It will not pop out if I hold the shifter in place. Somtimes it pops out of third and fourth; but rarely.

I am about to pull the trans because the through out bearing is making a lot of noise and must be replaced.

Besides possibly replacing the clutch, (it does not slip), what should I do with the trans? I am hoping that I can get away with replacing the plastic bushing in the short shifter.....and only spending $$$ on the throughout bearing.
Wishful thinking?

I am already stalling on a trans replacement for my 140.
