Air Conditioning idling speed 200 1978

Things 240 were changing pretty fast in 78-79, but my 79 has a solenoid valve on the firewall designed to do just that. If you find one in yours, you could test its function theoretically, by disconnecting the AC clutch wire and then operating the AC switch to hear the change in idle speed. Failing that, you could check the solenoid for electrical function and then to see the vacuum (bypass air) was being switched by it. In mine, if I remember right, the solenoid's switched vacuum controls another, larger bypass valve at the throttle body. My recollection is based on mine having been defective and searching for a replacement in the junkyard.

Let me know if yours has the solenoid valve on the firewall. I can get more info from manuals, pix and looking at mine.
