1980 4 cyl no start, no fuel 200

The below post is pretty interesting. I wonder what I am hearing. I certinly hear the in tank pump but am not sure I am hearing the main pump running. This may be why I have what I think is low pressure at the output of the fuel filter. I also am inclined to think I have between a quarter and a half tank of fuel, it does sound almost as if the intake fuel pump is sucking air (just sounds like it is running faster than normal).

You might want to "rotate" all of your fuses to make sure they are making good contact. An easy way to check the in-tank pump is to remove the gas cap and stick your ear real close to the filler and have someone try cranking, if the in-tank pump is alive you'll hear it whirring for a couple seconds. In my case the car still ran with a dead in-tank pump until...

...another posibility could be that the little two inch piece of crap hose on the in-tank pump has "disolved" and you are sucking air. Were you just driving along and got down to between 1/4 and 1/2 tank when it quit? That's about where it will die if that little hose rots out.
