Sorry about that. I've got an 85 245 for sale and it decides to have multipule problems. The idiot lights go on and off while running, no start and flooding problems and then no charging. To make a long and tortureous story short, after fixing the harness and replacing several parts, I finally check the AMM connection and it's crusty and green. Clean it and it starts everytime now. Now the alternator is intermitently putting out. The brushes and ground are good. I remove the alternator ready to bring it to the local rebulder and I hear a rattle inside. So I pull it apart and find that one of the screws that holds the diode board in place is out and partly melted. Oh crud. Well I'm this far, so's I check the diodes and windings and they look ok. Together it goes and installed and it puts out juice just like it should. The idiot lights work like they shoud also. Once again I learn to check the simple things first and to keep looking for the unusual.
