I had similar leaks in my '89 745 when I first bought it (used w/ 107k). I tried numerous things but no luck, until I went to a local body shop recommended by Volvo indy mechanics in this area (Portland, OR). They found that my gaskets/sealers between the fenders/doors were shot. They also did a water leak test pretty thoroughly to determine this. It's worth a try.
