I think it would have been better if you had asked us to help diagnose the problem before you took it in. It may be something as simple as a broken wire or bad fuse. There are a few guys here who are pretty good at the electrical end of stuff.
Myself, whenever I have doubts as to the charging, I take out my voltmeter put it across the battery terminals while the car is running to see if the voltage output is around 14v.
