After removing the assembly from the opening you may find that the metal spring tabs are rusted away. The bulb and socket slips out of the assembly and you can clean up the clear lens. After installing the new bulbs and making sure they light simply use a clear silicone sealer around the assembly and hold it in place overnight to cure. Sticks broken to the correct length work great :-)
