Reasons? Film/oil on the windscreen (use isopropryl alcohol and a towel to remove); bent wiper arms (bend to the correct orientation); cheap blades or rubber inserts. If your screen is REALLY dirty, get one of the mildly abrasive glass cleaners sold at auto body shops.
