Just slap on a set of Volvo brake pads all around and you'll have black wheels without having to repaint them. (kidding, but not really).

I've repainted a lot of alloys successfully. I did a writeup with photos about a year ago, where I redid a set of Coronas. There is no need for extravagance with respect to paint choice, but you HAVE to be careful on the prepwork.

Other than that, it's pretty basic.
