Idle gets rough after long trips 700 1989

Strange behavior from the old '89 745GL. Immediately after starting and while sitting at stop lights in around-the-town driving, idle is fine--smooth, even, 750rpm. However, after my commute (~30 miles at 75mph) I'll notice that the idle gets a little rough (fluctuates between ~700 and ~900rpm). It doesn't seem to be related to engine temperature so much as time spent driving and the speed. Otherwise, no problems. Any ideas?
