For about 3 weeks now I have been chaseing the ever elusive, intermittent stalling/"cutting out" (nearly stalling, loss of power while driving) problem on my 86 245. to date i have replaced
amm (used now wondering but it seems fine in my other 245)
plugs,wires,cap and rotor
swaped ecu with other car
peraired wires to temp sensor
checked air control unit on other car makes noise on it not on one with problems
replaced intake gasket (big leak don't know why it ran at all)
replaced throttle position sensor
replaced battery and cables
checked and rechecked air hose from amm to injection
checked and relaced a bunch of vacume lines
cleaned throttle body with spray cleaner (on car..yeah I know but I don't think thats it)
two things i'm wondering about
1 the ing.switch seems just a little mushy but playing with it while driving the car seems to have no effect( other than killing the engine if i turn it counter clockwise too far!
it is running so much better that i turned on the radio yesterday and noticed it is doing all sorts of weird stuff, sometimes a very limited selection of stations, sometimes flashing like the power is hooked up to a signal flasher, sometimes on with static and no numbers, sometimes works fine.
2 I have read other posts that say in 86 they put a radio supression relay on the car but there is nothing on either fender that looks like a rely other than the the silver box next to the p/s resovoir(what is that anyway?) did they put them any place else? are the radio and stalling problems unrelated? sorry for the long post but I really am out of ideas and we really love the car and untill i get this fixed i can't work on my other "project" 245
Thanks for all the help now and in the past.
