please help, im confused....
i have a 1987 740 turbo sedan that has been a fantastic car so far. however, a couple weeks ago it started to stall out on me. at first it stalled out a few times if i didn't warm up the car enough. once it was warm, no problem. i figured old age gets us all, even a volvo. now, the problem has become much more confusing. it seems to stall out on me when its warm and im driving on the highway. it starts up again, but not right away, sometimes ten minutes later, sometimes the next day. it idles perfect and i can drive it around town non-stop with no problems. when it stalls out the turbo gauge seems to be stuck at the start of the yellow zone (about half way between zero and full). also i noticed a strong gas smell, but i cant locate the area where its coming from. i replaced the air mass meter, but to no avail its still stalling. a mechanic told me it was the engine harness, but when i asked was he sure he eventually said no. please help keep the silver bullet (my volvo) alive.
