I searched the archives and the FAQ, but I am still a bit confused.
My problem:
All brake lights are not working. Other lights - rear turn signal, tail lights, one fog light (haven't checked the bulb on the other fog light) - all work OK.
What I tried:
1. checked the fuse - OK.
2. There is power at one of the contacts at the fuse (checked with voltmeter) while the pedal is not pressed.
2. Checked the power on the brake light switch on the pedal - no power.
My questions:
1. What is the wiring sequence for the brake lights?
Is it
a) fuse->brake pedal switch->bulb failure relay->brake lights? or
b) fuse->bulb failure relay->pedal switch->brake lights?
2. If the answer to the first question is (b), then how should I go about checking the relay? Please, don't spare the detail - I am not the most mechanically inclined person.
3. If the answer to the first question is (a) could anyone give me any suggestion on locating the wiring problem?
My car is a 1990 740GL
Thanks a bunch!
