What fuel system is this?

Everything I was going to say was pretty much covered, here's my money's worth anyways:

Get the Bentley manual. It covers 83-93, but it covers the K-Jetronic system well enough that if you're not familiar with it you would still find the information listed. It does not cover the LH-Jetronic 1.0 system at all, if this is what you have you may be SOL here.

Since you've got the Chrysler (expensive) ignition with the white distributor cap (right?) you've got a US or Canadian market fuel injected car. You've got two choices for fuel injection in 1982: K-Jetronic with CIS and Lambda Sond and LH-Jetronic 1.0.

IIRC Saab used K-Jetronic with CIS in all their 8 valve 900s, LH-Jetronic (2.2 and 2.4.. maybe 2.0 as well) found its way on the 16 valvers without the Trionic(?) system.

K-Jet is real easy to spot. You've got four injectors (usually right above where the intake manifold meets the head) with one hose on each one (hard plastic covered in black rubber, braided ss, or plain metal depending on the car). The steeply arched intake manifol with the flat top part is also a give away.

If you've got LH-Jetronic, you will have a metal fuel rail on top of the intake manifold, the injectors will actually be in the intake manifold (towards the top) and short fuel lines to each injector along with some electrical connection.

Of course you could take the easy way out and check your VIN. The 6th and 7th digits are the ones to look at.

For an 82 you should have two choices of transmission: manual (M46 - four speed with push button overdrive) or automatic (AW70 - four speed). Both should be okay with Type F/G fluid. 83 and newer autoboxes want Dexron fluid.
