i did my 89 and 90 this year. neither one had ever had a new filter. i thought it was a pain on the but. mine were under the rear axle. it dripped a little gas but nothing to worry about. nothing a good size rag would't take care of. i was very careful not to get dirt in the lines. i had to take my time and put penetrating oil on bolts. good luck. its not hard but it does take some time. its not like my old chevy where the filter was next to the carb.
