I think I said that, but what I was trying to say was that if you pull the axles (as if to work on the differential), then you really MUST put the axles back in their original sides so that the bearings on the axles again mate up with their respective cups.

Once bearings (races) and their cups 'n cones wear in, you should keep them together.
