Bad booster?

Adam- My 87 had a problem with an intermittent hard pedal, replaced the check valve, no change. Then I discovered the vacuum hose was a little bit to long and had to make a tight bend to attach to the manifold, time and heat had taken it's toll on the hose and it collapsed on itself. I cut about two inches off of it and rerouted it and the brakes worked fine. The car was 13 years old and the hose was original from the factory and had never been touched.
