rear fog lights

My '91 has only one rear fog light. The car is wired for both sides to light, but the right side wire is not connected inside the wiring harness.

I asked the dealer about this when I got the car, and was told it was because two fog lights would be mistaken for brake lights (as the other post theorized).

This made sense to me, so although it offends my sense of symmetry, I've never hooked up the right side.
