Problem with my cassette player, no go.

Not only does it sound like your deck is toast, but your speaker (minus the drivers side) are probably also no longer for this world. Just accept this and put in something new. You do not need to go high end, unless you want to, to get a system that sounds 100% then Volvo's did in the showroom. I'm not saying Volvo put bad stereos in their cars in the late 80's, well maybe I am but so did most other auto manufacturers. What I'm really saying is that stereo technology has come a VERY long way in the last 14 years. For around $300- ish, you should be able to put in a decent CD player and 4 speakers including installation. Having your deck repaired might cost $100-ish plus you still need the speakers so just bite the bullet and go to the stereo shop, you'll love it in the end
