Preload on Clutch spring

Sounds like a lot of work to get rid of a squeek.

Buy some chain and cable lube in an aerosol can from any motorcycle shop or from NAPA. It is heavy grease dissolved in light solvent, so it penetrates and then sets up to a heavy grease.

I use chain and cable lube on just about every moving joint on the car, such as door locks and hinges, etc. If you buy a cable lubricating tool from the motorcycle shop, you can force grease down the full length of your throttle cable, clutch cable, and hood release cable. It makes everything work like new again BUT IF YOU LIVE WHERE IT IS COLD, try this on non-critical cables first. My car never sees temperatures below freezing. I don't know how stiff that grease gets at -20F, and I'd hate for someone's throttle to stick open because of my advice.
