I remember a friend of mine was 'convinced' to take his dads 4 door Chevy Caprice off roading to do some skeet shooting. We ended up with all four wheels hanging about 2 feet off the ground after unsuccessfully going over a hill. You made it home at least. After over 20 years that story comes up when the 'Boys' get together. It brings us to tears laughing about it (now). Of course my buddie had his dads Belt marks on his butt for a while. I still have pictures of it. I'm giggling just thinking about it.
ANYWAY. The entire engine can get wet, it does when it rains, don't blast down on the electrical components. Remember you are trying to clean the dirt off the engine, not drive the dirt into any seals or under the Distributor cap for instance. After you wash it down, take it for a drive to dry up the wiring and other electronics.
