I suggest you take Rob's advise. What you want is a push button not a switch.I have a button in my 62 P1800 and have installed a couple in friends cars to avoid the broken key problem. Aftermarket ignition switches work and are cheap but look like xxxx in a vintage Volvo. Your problem sounds like and easy fix.
