So, I'm going to take another long lunch today dedicated to the non-working volvo. Today is a field trip that I'll be taking to the local bone yard, I wish the car had done this the day before I went there last time instead of on the way home. I will be picking up a distributer and coil. And while I'm there and dirty I'll probably grab a starter as well. I will also run by IPD and pick up a new cap, rotor, plugs, and plug wires. I don't want to beat a dead horse but I am having strange no start issues that we seem to be diagnosing by replacing everything. The last piece of info I presented had to do with an intermittant spark at the end of the coil. Everyone seemed to point there fingers towards the hall effect so that's the route I'm taking until I receive a sign that's the wrong route, like the car still doesn't start after doing all of this. Anyway, what should I be looking for at the bone yard? Are the distributers different from year to year? Is there an easy way to identify them from one another? Same question for the starter and coil. If I have any money left, should I also pick up an ignition control unit and or computer...(I'll only do this if they are potential culprits of the problem)?
The message board is kinda fun intat it feels like everyone is a part of car repair, sure, all of you are getting grease under your finger nails on your own cars, but it still feels like you're apart of this, let's get my car going again!!!
