hit my bumper 200 1989

Well, I didn't actually "hit" or ram my bumper into something. One of my biggest paranoia is fearing someone bumping into my car's front or rear bumper while it's parked. I avoid parking on side streets for that very reason. Trust me, I've seen drivers hit the car in front or in back of them while trying to park or drive out of a parallel parking space. Well, after being so careful in where I park, I accidently tap my bumper into this fence in my parkway. Worst, it happened to be in a part of the fence where there is a metal pole. I was pissed at myself. This happened a few days ago when it was raining. I was trying to ease my car close to the fence so that I could leave another park space for another car behind me. So the car wasn't being gassed or moving fast at all, just slow moving forward. I looked at the car and I didn't see any damage at all. There was no dents or scratches on the front bumper. And today I finally got to look at the car's front and the fence, since now that the sun is up again :o) I still didn't see any damage at all or any indication that the bumper was pushed in or moved from any screw attachments. But I am still mad at myself. I know that's what bumpers are designed for, but even the slightest tap on my bumper is cause for concern. Do you think I may have caused any damage to the car even though I didn't see any damage to the bumper? I mean I was literally checking everything just because of that tap on the fence. How much can a bumper take before something serious happens, like knocking the tranny shifter out of whack or damaging the motor mounts?
