Help...overheating problems driving me crazy 200

Have you tried to see if the problem is the temperature compensating board? Next time the temperature goes up toward the red, give the dash a whack. If the temperature needle starts down, the comp board is the likely culprit. This is a common problem, I have it in my '86 and '88. There are fixes in the archives.
