B230E? 8 or 16 valve?

I know this will look stupid, but how do I tell the difference between the 8 and 16 valve B230 engine? Every time I go to get insurance and describe my Volvo as a 740 GLT 7 seater estate registered in 1986, the insurance people say the only one on their books is a 16 valve engine. I'm pretty sure it's an 8 valve. The sticker on the Timing cover says B230E NR 1111. Any one know ?
