There was an article on "flamers" in Car and Driver some while back. Maybe you could search their archives for it. They described various propane setups, usually with some sort of electronic igniter. The most impressive design adapted an Army surplus flame thrower that shot a 50 ft. rooster tail. Tailgaters beware!
