PCV AND OIL TRAP QUESTION

In my experience, I check all the hoses involved, primarily the two from the oil trap. These do get mucked up with time and mileage. The little white Y can become clogged and so can the nipple on the intake maniflod. The large hose will build up with deposits also. Oil traps I feel need to be changed after so long as cleaning them is close to impossible, but folks will disagree. I purchase new ones from Volvo in the 30+ buck range. You do not need to take off the manifold, but removal of some hoses to the intake is wise. Be sure to get a new O ring for the bottom of the oil trap. Cleaning the engine first makes it easier.

This is my opinion. Takes time and grease. Might be a good time to take off the throttle body and clean it. Makes access to the oil trap easier.

Good luck,

dick
