Should I Buy? 1989

Hello all! I am a little new at this, so please bear with me! I am currently looking to but my first car and the one that I have fallen in love with is a 1989 240 Volvo. It is a dream! I was looking for some input... good points, problem areas, any good tips on specific areas I should look at? It is priced at approx. 3k and has had a ton of work (almost everything new... sans the transmission) and I am buying it from a mechanic that has serviced it for its almost 13 years on the road. So... any input/onfo would be greatly appreciated! Thanks to all!
