Problem with a stereo speaker...

I got a new jbl speaker, and it fits the hole (no interference with my 87 240 window), but the grill won't fit due to the little bump over the inside of the doors, Could I cut the Plastic circular grill to fit the contours of my car door, or is the jutting out of the speaker grill just inevitable? thanks.
