I just re-rad your post. Thank you again for your responses to my question. My car is making noise in both 3rd and 5th, but not to the extent of another 740 I drove. The transmission is now over-filled with Redline MTL, so I will wait awhile and see how it stands up.

In answer to your question about where I live, I am about 1 1/2 hour drive north of Toronto. To the north, I look at Georgian Bay, just around the bend from you in Chicago, if that is where you live.
