Yes... the cable sheath comes out of the crimp at the end.

For future reference (anyone listening?) you can use a piece of fuel hose and two hose clamps to keep it from sliding out on it's own again (which it can and sometimes does). This is a common place for hte cable to break and a simple and cheap fix.
