I have a 1988 760 V-6 with ECC. It seems to have two problems.
1. after using the AC for a while, and working very well, the "coolness" will fade away and it pumps in hot air!
2. The wents are not working, it seems the system only pumps air down and up and I canīt controle anything. (in fact the control knob for the wents/auto/defogger/floor, does not work at all)
I have tryed to fault trace the system but only I get code 1.1.1 (fault-free)
I have tryed to locate some vacumleak but with no luck so far.
I have checked the fuses and they are ok.
About two months ago I had the AC system refilled (R12) so it should be full.
There are 3 things that have accuret recently, and may or may not be some clues to what is wrong/broken.
1. There came once some smell from the heater-system something like an electric-motor burning but it was only once that this happened.
2. When coming home with the ac on and it would be cooling quite well and turning the engine of, I could hear a hissing noise from the heater.(could be from were the vacum-reservour is located)
3. I think can hear more noise from the ac pump under acceleration (whining)
And there is a feeling that it is robbing more power from the engine than usually,but then again maybe both of these symptoms are in my head :-)
here are 3 of my thougths
I suspect I may be dealing with two different problems)
1. Could I be low on R12 (even if I just had it recharged two months ago(leak)) and when the system,when used, goes upp in working heat and then it looses pressure and it switches off? (I understand it has a funktion that prevents it from working when pressure is to low)
2. There is still a vacum leak, I just have not found it yet!
3.Can I get 1.1.1 fault free code and yet there is a fault?
Any ideas ? please......
