Discovered that the 1981 (B21F) I bought for my son had a thread insert in No.2 cylinder spark plug hole. This became apparent when the plug and insert blew out, leaving a smooth, threadless, rather large bore hole where they used to be. Now to the question: can this hole be reamed and tapped and an even larger insert installed? Or should I remove the head and get it repaired (welded and retapped to original plug size?) at a proper machine shop? Other ideas? Can anyone recommend a good (Volvo savvy) shop in California's Central Coast area (Santa Barbara, Ventura, San Luis Obispo Counties)? Thanks, all.
