Hi again!
'87 740 GLE wagon, B230F non-Turbo
276,000 Miles
Problem:
My car is now starting to idle rough all the time. On a suggestion, I just checked the AMM by pulling the connector (engine off) and starting the car. Car starts, idles just as rough, but power would drop and nearly stall if I hit the gas a bit. I would guess that the AMM is doing its job.
Any more guesses? Does this sound like the catalytic converter? Should I yank off the exhaust and take a (noisy) test drive? Will this hurt anything?
Based on suggestions, this is what I have done so far:
Checked AMM
Cleaned Flame Trap
Ran tank with fuel injector cleaner
Checked various hoses for blockage
Pulled air intake and sprayed carb cleaner in throttle body
Cleaned Engine (Steam Clean in a can) (just so that I could see anything)
Bosch Platinum Plugs
Inspected wires
Pulled all visible electrical connectors & sprayed with contact cleaner
Reseated all relays
Much thanks, in advance!
