heater core 200

This is a big labor intensive job. Like the previous post says you must take
apart the whole dash. I remove the dash board completely from the
car. This lets me access the heater box from the top making it much easier to
work on. Replacing the heater core requires you to remove the heater and split
it open. If you have good a/c you may want to have a shop evacuate the system
and save your refridgerant. The evaporator will slide out of the heater but you
still have to split the heater box. I've heard of some folks cutting just enough
plastic away from the heater box so you can slip the heater core out but I can't
speak from experience. The good part about the job is there aren't any special
tools needed just time and patience. Also this is one of those jobs where you
want to keep all of the parts and fasteners organized so you don't lose them.

Personally, I like doing these jobs. It's just a great feeling to get done such
a big job and have your climate control working well. Also the dash will be nice
and tight without the annoying squeaks and rattles from stuff getting loose over
the years. I'd consider the job if you are near southern NJ. Wish you well.
