it depends upon how big the leak is, and where it is leaking from. It can be a sharp "psshht" sound, or a wooshing sound. Sometimes, it makes no sound, but you can tell because you won't be able to make boost. Note that usually these sounds will happen once you go over 0 psi.

Sometimes you hear a "pop" and then you won't be able to make boost. Then you really know you've got a boost leak!
