Odometer inop 200 1990

Hi all,

My odometer seems to have taken the plunge. I just corrected the temperature compensation problem that seems so troublesome on these models, and, when I got the instruments back in and went for a test drive (I also did a t-stat, belts, hoses and flush at the same time), the speedometer went crazy. It was pretty obvious that I had reconnected something wrong. I immediately turned around and parked it.

After checking the connections, the only difference from the way it came apart was that I had connected a single wire that comes out of the harness in the same place that all the other ones for the panel do--it was not connected to anything when I took the panel out. I plugged it onto the empty blade of a two-bladed connector. It looked as if it may have come off of it originally. I did not see any other place for it to go.

Anyway, I took that wire back off and now the speedometer works fine, but the odometer has not worked at all since. Did I fry it? What in the world is that wire for?? Just to make idiots try to plug it into something? :)

Thanks,

-- Matt
