I've owned this 760 for about 3 months, basically a good platform at 195K. A few days ago my wife phoned from the car, stating that it was dead. So the knight in green armor (my 940) arrived and, yep, she was right. Many jumps later we arrived home. Her story is that the car had not been as powerful, the windows and sunroorf slower, horn stopped over a few days . . . gradual change.
So far I have tried a new Bosch regulator, and a second alternator which a local auto electric shop verified was in good shape. The only other info I have is that the "Battery/charging" light on the dash doesn't come on, even when starting. My mechanic suggested a possible fault in the "charging circuitry" in the dash, but went no further. What about a dash swap? Is there any common fault on the board (soldering, part replacement, etc) that I should try? (Coincidently, a 760/940 dash from Ebay arrived this morning; you can never have too many back-ups.) Any info/suggestions/direction would be appreciated. I like my mechanic, but it feels like I've already sent one of his kids (the 4 year old) to college.
Thanks -
