oil drain plug won't open!

I own an '89 740 Turbo Wagon. I am trying to unscrew my oil drain plug with a regular adjustable wrench, but the plug is screwed in too tight. I suspect I need a socket wrench specifically designed for this size plug. Does anyone know the size of the screw/plug, and where I can get a good socket wrench of that size online?
