Bent out of shape bushing 200

Let's see. What's pissing me off today? Oh yeah...
I'm trying to fabricate the "homebrew" rear trailing arm bushing removal tool per the instructions many of you have seen at http://www-ese.fnal.gov/People/wilcer/volvo_trailing_arm_bushing_tool.htm (it's also mirrored at http://www.public.iastate.edu/~lhealey/volvotool/).
I was aggravated to find that the one of my replacement bushings will not fit into the straight pipe coupling I bought. It looks like the bushing outer sleeve is slightly oval shaped. A check with the dial caliper seems to confirm this. I know this set up works in an ideal world. But that's not doing me any goddam good. Has anyone encountered this problem? How did you get around it?
