electrical problems??!! 200 1988

Under the dash in my 88 wagon is a cluster of wires attached to what looks like a reset button for something it also appears that it should be mounted someplace what is this, also on top of the rear differential housing is a small rusted spring that is broken and one side is fixed to the housing the other just wobbles in space, all help is appreciated one more is there a source for detailed diagrams for volvos my haynes book seems to have only ones that are of little use to me.
