how to make a volvo head unit work in another car

What ki nd of volvo did you pull the head unit from? I actually have been looking for color codes for my stereo, from an 88 760.. I have a hayne's manual w/ wiring diagrams (including wire colors to radio) but I don't know whether it would help you or not.
