OD on M46 with switch

Easiest way to check 4th gear switch is pull the shift lever tothe rear and right more than normal. Then try the switch to see if you get a reaction.

Once the dash light comes on, let go of the shifter and see if the dash light goes out.

Or with a meter, pull the relay out and check for continuity between the red wire on the socket and any chassis ground with the shifter in 4th.
