84 240 stopped running need help

my 240 sedan died on the highway it would not start or pop start the engine turns over but nothing happens. i think it is the fuel pump i have yet to check and for spark but i dont think that is likly. it has done this before but it starts up agian after tinkering with the fuses. i have done lots of fuse tinkering and it still does not start. i recently ran it nearly out of gas but the tank is now full could that have anything to do with it? it seemed to lose power for a second every once and a while for a couple days before this happened. i need help on this one
